GE and FANUC Ltd. Are to dissolve their joint venture, GE Fanuc Automation Corp., which was set up in 1986 and provides of hardware and software used in automation and embedded computing as well as computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine tools. GE Fanuc grew to become a leading supplier of industrial technologies including automation hardware and software, embedded computer systems and CNC products

Under the terms of agreement GE will be keeping the global software, services, embedded systems and control systems. They will be known as GE Intelligent Platforms. Fanuc will keep all CNC business. The transaction is to be completed by the end of 2009, subject to closing conditions
